Safety & Stability at Home

We secure safe and stable homes for young people who cannot live with their parents by representing them in the guardianship process to get a loving adult to care for them and by advocating for the rights and needs of young people in the San Francisco foster care system.

Freedom From Deportation

LSC defends the rights of undocumented immigrant children and young people, including youth under age 18 who entered the U.S. alone and are in immigration detention without their families as well as SF Bay Area young people at risk of deportation.

Access to Education

LSC protects young people’s access to education by advocating for their rights when they are facing potential expulsion or suspension from school, keeping them on the path to graduation and preserving their place in their peer communities.

Policy Advocacy

Innovative Strategies to Reach Exploited Youth: New Report

A new collaborative report from LSC and its partner organizations Safe & Sound, San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women, is now available for download.

Youth with lived experience participated in the 2023 Street Outreach Convening to help multidisciplinary service providers better understand how to meet the needs of San Francisco’s foster youth who are living out of placement, including those who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation.
